LA JOLLA -- Cal State L.A.'s women's soccer team put a scare into No. 2 UC San Diego on Sunday, but the Golden Eagles were unable to come away with a victory.

The Golden Eagles became the first team this season to grab a lead against the unbeaten Tritons, but UC San Diego rallied for two goals and posted a 2-1 win over Cal State L.A. at Triton Soccer Field. Cal State L.A. (6-3, 3-3 CCAA) lost its second straight conference match, while UC San Diego (8-0-1, 5-0-1) stretched its lead in the California Collegiate Athletic Association South Division.

Khadijah Greenwood gave Cal State L.A. the lead in the 20th minute with her fifth goal of the season. Dana Menard got the assist after laying off the ball just inside the penalty area and Greenwood one-timed a shot off the left post and into the back of the net.

UC San Diego, though, tied it in the 40th minute when Rachel Lindenfeld headed in a crossing pass from Chelsey Campbell about six yards from the goal.

The score remained tied until the Tritons got the game-winner in the 58th minute. A corner kick by Natasha Belak-Berger bounded into the penalty area and Kelly Mayo was able to get to it first and knock a shot into the net.
